Obituary for Jeanne E. Janewicz After a long and vibrant life, Jeanne Janewicz, 86, died Aug. 30, 2018, surrounded by family and love. She was born in Spring Valley to Walter Halm and Virginia Davison Halm.

A widow, Jeanne lived in Appleton, Wis. , for the past 16 years, near her sons and grandchildren. Jeanne was a registered nurse with a long career spanning old-school military-style training through the incoming computer age.

Working in hospitals and industry as a nurse, she lived in Illinois, California, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Tennessee. She married and had three children with David Ogden, and married Lawrence Janewicz in 1998. Jeanne loved to crochet.

In her retirement she made countless afghans, scarves and prayer shawls which she joyfully gave to family, friends and people in need. She liked to golf, bike, travel and share a meal with others. Employing her nursing background, Jeanne taught her children organizational skills for which they are deeply grateful.

She loved to laugh, socialize, Hershey’s chocolate, and a good cup of hot coffee. Her family and friends all adored her and held her in high regard. As a mother, grandmother and friend, she treated everyone with great kindness, always putting others before herself.

She was devoted and steadfast in her faith, a long-standing member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, and was a shining example of common decency. To her family, she showed how to overcome adversity with the strength to rise to the occasion. She was, in a word, a survivor.

She is sorely missed by all that knew her and welcomed by the lord with open arms. She is survived by her brother, Walter (Theresa) Halm, her three children, Sandy Ogden of California, Jeff (Bette) Ogden of Wisconsin and Jim (Sandra) Ogden of Wisconsin; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four nieces and 11 nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St Joseph Church, Peru.

Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until services in the church.
