OBITUARY Jeanne Hadd Maas June 29, 1928 – October 22, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Alma Jean Weber was born on June 29, 1928 in Golden, Colorado. Alma Jean preferred to be known as Jeanne. Jeanne was an only child who loved to play with dolls and read.
She played saxophone in the Golden High School band and was also drum majorette. Jeanne sang with the Denver Opera and chorus for one season and was a soloist going to many different occasions to sing. She also sang and marched for WWII stamps.
She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and assisted with rescues of stranded mountain climbers. After graduation from high school, she married George Hadd. They had many adventures and lived in many places to include the Utah Desert, Canada, Florida, Kentucky and Texas.
Jeanne and George had four children: Donald, Robert, Michael and Mary. Jeanne worked as an administrative secretary for Florida Department of Education. After moving to Austin, Texas, Jeanne began working for the University of Texas.
George died from injuries suffered during WWII in 1971. After George’s death, Jeanne traveled abroad and visited many countries with her best friends, Bing and Lucky. Jeanne then worked for the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center for the Blind where she met Milton (Mike) Maas.
Milton and Jeanne were married in 1977. She embraced Milton’s family and his children: Michael, Russell and Timothy along with their wives and children. Jeanne loved her family and was the glue that held the family together.
She was always ready with her love, her support and her great outlook on life. Milton and Jeanne loved traveling in their motor home and visited family members all over the country. They also loved utilizing their time share and spent many vacations in Palestine, Texas and Branson, Missouri.
Milton and Jeanne lived in Georgetown, Texas where they became members of the Faith Lutheran Church. Of all the churches she had ever attended, Faith Lutheran was her favorite. Milton and Jeanne moved to Parmer Wood Assisted Living in 2010.
Jeanne remained there until her death. Jeanne loved to cross stitch and made many memorable items for family members. She also loved to send cards – birthday, anniversary, get well, etc.
Jeanne loved the Lord and truly enjoyed praying and reading scriptures and religious stories. She was a treasure who could always find the good in everyone. As she would say, “It is sometimes hard to find the good but it is there.
You just have to look a little harder”. She was loved for her great outlook on life, her upbeat personality and her true love of the Lord. Jeanne was preceded in death by her father (Henry Weber), mother (Grace McCool), George Hadd and Milton (Mike) Maas.
Jeanne is survived by her children Donald (Christine) Hadd, Robert (Laura) Hadd, Michael (Debra) Hadd and Mary (Rus Eaton) Hadd; grandchildren Andrew Hadd, Lisa Hadd, Jennifer Baden, Shawn Hadd, Raymond Hadd, Anthony Hadd, David Anderson, Daryl Anderson and Kimber Anderson; brother, Harry (Chip) Weber, Jr.; step-son Michael (Lisa) Maas and grandchildren Christopher (April) Maas, Chelsea Graves and Marissa Maas; Timothy’s children Brittany and Brandon; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 26, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Jeanne’s Life at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel. Entombment will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Mausoleum.
Honoring Jeanne as pallbearers will be Donald Hadd, Robert Hadd, Michael Hadd, Raymond Hadd, Anthony Hadd, Michael Maas, Andrew Hadd, and Christopher Maas.
