M. Jeanne Erickson, age 76, of Bemidji, MN, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji, MN, at a later date. Jeanne (Herman) Erickson was born on October 8th, 1941 in Devils Lake, ND to Carl Herman and Myrtle (Lillestol) Herman. Jeanne graduated high school from Wahpeton High School.

She then continued her education at the University of North Dakota and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While attending UND, Jeanne was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and enjoyed Greek life as a college student. On June 3rd, 1961, she married Donn H. Erickson.

Together, they raised two sons, Mark and Scot. Donn and Jeanne lived in Grand Forks, ND, where they both taught for the Grand Forks Public School District. Jeanne spent her entire 32-year career as a classroom teacher at Winship Elementary School.

Jeanne was proud of her accomplishments as a teacher and followed many of her students throughout their lives. After retiring from teaching in 1996, she and Donn built their log home on Buck Lake near Bemidji, MN. Jeanne enjoyed volunteering at her church, Sanford Hospital, and Hospice.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Bemidji, where she and Donn made many friends. She enjoyed the outdoors of the Northwoods, biking through Bemidji State Park, and especially spending time with her many friends. Jeanne is remembered by friends and family as a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend.

She was a kind and giving person who always seemed to have other people’s well-being in front of her own. Her greatest pride was her family and her biggest pleasure was the time she spent with them. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Donn H. Erickson.
