Julia Gillman, 95, of Hastings, MN formerly of Bemidji, died Monday, March 5, 2018 at Regina Senior Living, Hastings. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Nebish Community Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Julia was born April 12, 1922 to Cazimer and Bernarda Polich. She lived in Nebish until 1941 when she moved to Jolliet, IL and worked in an ammunitions plant until the end of WWII. She married Delmar Gillman in 1944 and they returned to Nebish where they ran their family dairy farm for the next 26 years.

In 1970 Julia and Delmar moved to Bemidji where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Bemidji Co-Op until she retired in 1992. Julia continued to live in Bemidji until 2015 when she moved to Hastings. She was active in the VFW women’s auxiliary, American Legion and Willing Workers Club at Nebish.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, puzzles word finds and delivering meals on wheels. Julia is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Linda) of Nebish and Ernest (Cathy) of Cottage Grove; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cazimer and Bernarda Polich; husband, Delmar; brothers, Donald Polich and Stanko Polich.
