Jeannie Lee Howell, 52, of Des Moines, died on Sunday, April 28, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at the Newton VFW. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.

Jeannie, the daughter of Harvey and Mary (Smith) Phillips, was born on April 3, 1967 in Quincy, Illinois. She lived her early years in Carthage, Illinois and Keokuk. Jeannie was united in marriage to Jimmy Howell in 2003 and they made their home in Newton.

She most recently lived in Des Moines. Jeannie worked as a cashier for Hy-Vee in Des Moines. She loved her cats, Avon candles, wooden sayings and Precious Moments collectables.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jimmy Howell; sons, Jerry (Tricia) Wilfawn of Newton and Terry Wilfawn of Des Moines; mother, Mary Phillips of Nauvoo, Illinois; sister, Debbie Phillips of Mississippi; brothers, Art Phillips of Keokuk and Carl Phillips of Nauvoo, Illinois; and grandchild, Teken. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Phillips; brothers, Bobby and Donny Phillips; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
