Obituary for Jeannine Gibson St. Peter Jeannine Gibson St. Peter, 89, of Beaumont, passed away on December 12, 2018, at Collier Park Retirement Center in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:30pm, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:30pm, Saturday at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Born in Mexia, Texas, on June 29, 1929, she was the daughter of Hampton Harriss and Bertha Alma (Brautigam) Gibson. Jeannine was a member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont.
She was a graduate of Stephen F Austin State University, where she met her lifelong husband, Raymond St. Peter. Jeannine majored in Art and English was a member of Pine Burr (Alpha Chi Omega) and later Delta Kappa Gamma at SFA State University. Jeannine was also a member of the Delphian Society in Beaumont.
In her early career, Jeannine did free-lance artwork, drawing fashion advertisements for newspapers. She taught elementary school in Galveston, Tyler, and Beaumont for several years before she and Ray opened their own business, Blood and Plasma Research, Inc. in 1967. She learned the business and managed the Beaumont location until her retirement in 1993.
Typical of her nature, Jeannine developed very close relationships and became life-long friends with her donors and colleagues, holding a special place in her heart for each one. Jeannine and Ray were great fun, and they loved to entertain their family, friends, and colleagues. Her kind and loving generosity will be long-remembered by all to whom she opened her home!
Jeannine and Ray loved to travel and see all the wonderful things the world had to offer. Jeannine loved to cook, and she was great at it! She loved music, playing the piano by ear, playing the bells, singing in a quartet during her college years, and always played music at home.
She taught and influenced her girls to appreciate all of the things she loved, so they too, enjoy music, cooking, entertaining, and traveling. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Jeannine’s loving caregivers of many years: Latosha Bias, Merce Chavis, and Barbara Fontenot. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Charlotte Mae Gibson and Marge Elise Gibson Womack; and Theresa Bias, life-long St. Peter family caregiver and loving friend.
Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Kristi Watson Lovelady and husband, Jerry; Rayann St. Peter Waldron and husband, James; and Shelly Marie Kerr and husband, Scott. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jean Elise Browning and husband, Dan; Damon Kerr and wife, Vanessa; Christian Kerr and wife, Elizabeth; John Paul Napleton; and Raymond Cruz St. Peter. Her great-grandchildren include Morgan Marie Browning, Mason Browning, and Gabriella Kerr.
Jeannine is further survived by nephews and niece, Clay Harriss Womack and family; David Ralph Womack and family; and Melissa Womack Gilmore and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be given to the Ray St. Peter Memorial Scholarship or the H. H. and Bertha Gibson Scholarship at SFASU.
