Jeffrey Beam Harris (age 53) passed away on January 16, 2019 surrounded by his wife, children, and family. Affectionately known as Captain to his grandchildren, his untimely and sudden death is an unfathomable tragedy for all that knew him. Jeff is survived by his wife, Diane (née Sanetta), children Kyle Harris (Victoria), Cory Harris, Sara McGee (Ryan), Samantha Tippy, and Taylor Tippy, his mother Mona Bartz (née Beam), his brothers Gregory Harris (Brenda) and Douglas Harris, sister Jennifer Olsen (Keith), grandchildren Sebastian and Elliot Harris, nieces, nephews, countless friends and loved ones.
Jeff spent as much time as possible at home with his wife; working in the yard and laughing with his children. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find someone not familiar with the little blue house a stone’s throw from the Minooka Community High School that always welcomed you with a smile, a joke, and a cold Miller Lite. Jeff was more than a husband, son, father, dog whisperer, and friend— he was a magnetic person who could coax a smile and chuckle out of anyone who crossed his path.
His energetic and humorous soul helped craft a lifetime of memories for those he leaves behind. For those fortunate enough to experience a classic “Jeff Day” or cruise down the Dupage River alongside him, you are blessed with a wealth of positive memories to guide you through this tragic time. Jeff was one of the rare individuals who never passed up on an opportunity to lend a helping hand and who would gladly give you his last dollar with a twinkle in his eye.
He was a man of character, kindness, and above all, love. — While we struggle at this time to fill the space where this incredible man once stood, we remind everyone of Jeff’s ability to make sunshine out of a storm. We stand with you in grief and encourage you to cherish the treasured people in your lives, as we will continue to do every day.
We miss you. We love you. We thank you for being you, Jeff.
And we promise to not play country music. — In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donation, Attn: Ashely Ocasio, 425 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, Illinois 60143-2076.
