October 31, 2018 Jennie M. Rossi ORANGE- Jennie M. (Moschini) Rossi, 100, formerly of King James Court, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. She was born in North Adams on May 28, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Vareschi) Prenguber. As her father passed away before her birth, she moved to Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1935.

She was married to the late Louis P. Rossi in 1939 and enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage. She is survived by her three children, John Rossi of Peabody, Paul Rossi of Shrewsbury and Mary (Rossi) Walsh, and her husband Richard, of Orange; two grandchildren, Scott Rossi of Nashua, NH and Jason Rossi and his wife Amy, of Litchfield, NH; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlyn and Madison Rossi of Litchfield, NH. Jennie was predeceased by two step brothers, Americo (Matt) Moschini and Etalo Moschini, as well as a half sister, Emma (Moschini) Trenoweth.

Prior to being a homemaker for many years, she worked at Fredette Auto Sales in Athol as a receptionist/secretary and later in life worked outside the home at the General Foods Minute Tapioca in Orange and as a customer service manager at the Slencil Company in Orange. Jennie was recently awarded the Boston Post gold cane as the oldest living resident of Orange. For many years Jennie was very active at the Senior Center in Orange.

During her active years there were many of her fellow senior citizens received hot Meals On Wheels that were handled by Jennie. Over the years she participated in the Meals On Wheels Walk-A-Thon and often coordinated a team of walkers from the Senior Citizens Club. She also worked at the Gift Shop at the Senior Center when it was open and helped distribute farmers’ market coupons during the summer months.

Jennie was active in Saint Mary’s Women’s Club at Saint Mary’s Church in Orange. Jennie was always the perfect hostess. The first thing she would ask you when you entered her house was “what can I get you to eat”?

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 9-10:45 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 5th at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
