Jennis Chivers Yack, age 91, of Roosevelt, passed away on July 1, 2018. Jennis was born on April 2, 1927, to Lewis William and Elizabeth Iva Chivers in Vernal, Utah. She had 9 siblings: 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Her mother died when she was 10 years old. This was extremely heart breaking for her. It was tough for the family, but they made it with the help of her older sister, Mary, and her husband, Etienne.
Jennis began dating Lawrence Yack when he was on leave from the U.S. Navy during WWII. She said she had always loved him since she had seen him as a young girl. They were married on February 8, 1946.
They were blessed with 3 wonderful children: Jearold, Robert, and Lori, who grew up to be successful, and caring adults. Jennis loved to sing, which she did most of her day. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, camping with her family, and having a pretty yard.
The thing she loved most is her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and spending time with them. She adored them. Lawrence was a successful commercial beekeeper.
Jennis loved to be with him and help him can the honey and deliver it to Vernal, Provo, and Salt Lake City. Jennis worked at Huish Drug for several years and also Modern Drug, but preferred being home with her family and helping Lawrence. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions.
Some of her favorites included: teaching Primary, being a visiting teacher, and a chorister in the Relief Society for several years. She looked forward to reuniting with her wonderful husband, mom, dad, and siblings, along with all of her loved ones that have gone on before. Jennis is survived by her children, Jerry (Suzy) Yack, of South Jordan, Robert (Teresa) Yack, and Lori (Chris) Nebeker, both of Roosevelt; 7 grandchildren: Larry, Dave, Kevin, C.J., Dustin, Kymberlee, and Rhett; and 5 great-grandchildren: Kelsie, Ava, Straton, Kacen, and soon to be born, baby Jordyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Mary, Gladys, Bessie, Verda Mae, Betty Lou, and Elva Jean; brothers, Lewis Earl, Lloyd Elwin, Norman John, and Arzy Jay. The family expresses their appreciation for those at Parkside Manner and the Senior Villa who cared for Jennis. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the America Cancer Society, because Jennis was a breast cancer survivor.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roosevelt East LDS Stake Center. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
