Jerald Fetters, age 78, of Millerton, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019. Jerald was born at home in Confidence on October 2, 1940 to Ernest and Irene (Holmes) Fetters. Jerald attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Corydon High School with the class of 1958.

The class celebrated their 60th class reunion in 2018, which he enjoyed. On October 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Ida Stark at Chariton Methodist Church. To this union came three children: Brad (Becky) Fetters, Craig Fetters and Cindy (Scott) Goolsby.

Jerald was a lifelong farmer. He had a great love of the land and enjoyed farming to the fullest and raising sheep. He was a 4H leader during his kids’ school days.

He coached baseball and attended all sporting events the kids were involved in. He always enjoyed going to the Millerton Café, having coffee with all the neighbors. He was a member of Twin States Truck and Tractor Pulling and loved pulling tractors.

Go Green! His motto was John Deere, General Motors and cowboy boots. However, in later years, the boots lost out to his more comfortable tennis shoes.

He farmed in the Millerton, Derby and Clio areas, spending 36 years in the Clio area. When he decided to retire, he returned to the area where he grew up and built a new home, which he was so proud of. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ida; son: Bradley (Becky) and Craig; daughter, Cindy (Scott) Goolsby; six grandchildren: Dawn (Steve) Rayl, Brett Fetters, Colton Fetters, Ashley (Greg) Scott, Tanner (Jessica) Goolsby and Carly Goolsby and five great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Garrett Rayl, and Logan, Miles and Brentley Scott; sister, Janice and brother, Jim; sisters-in-law: Margaret (Butch), Evelyn and Donna as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joretta Hersom; brother-in-law, Leo Hersom; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Louise Stark and brother-in-law, Allan Test.
