Obituary for Jerry Paul Martin II Jerry Paul Martin II was given his Heavenly wings and ordained God’s good and faithful servant, to rest in the arms of our Father on December 20, 2018. He was born August 6, 1960 to Jerry and Claudette Martin in Twentynine Palms, CA. Jerry was an exceptionally devoted husband, father, Papa, brother and son who loved God, his family and his country tremendously.

He was extremely passionate in every one of those aspects. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but most of all found his greatest joy being with his family. Survivors include his loving wife Teresa Martin; daughter, Amy Martin of El Paso, TX; sons Jerry Martin III and wife Gracie of Artesia, NM, Craig Martin and wife Tiffany of Roswell, NM, and Christopher Martin and fiancé Misty of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren Mya, Alexyss, Ariel, Jerry IV, Aiden, Allenae, Marisa, Jada, Amora, Amariah, Christopher II and Baby Martin.

Mr. Jerry P. Martin, United States Army (retired), was a 1978 graduate of Gila Bend High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in July 1978 as an Automotive Technician. Jerry was married to Gila Bend native Teresa (Esquivel) Martin and they have 4 children, 3 daughters in law and 12 grandchildren.

Jerry retired from active military service in August 1998. Jerry was the Campus President for Heavy Equipment Colleges of America in Oklahoma City, OK. His previous positions included President and CAO of International Business College, Admissions Director for Southwest University and Western Technical College and held his own business position as an Independent consultant to colleges across the country.

Jerry has held various leadership positions as Chief Administrative Officer, President, Regional Director of Admissions and Recruiting; he has been responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the current and long-range planning activities of the college’s growth. His strong interpersonal communication skills, knowledge and experience with extensive senior level management and leadership abilities have been distinguished by commended performance and proven results. Jerry had over 35 years of progressive experience in workforce exposure, directed major projects that expanded company growth and revenues in the Federal, State, and Private arenas During his previous career Jerry served in a variety of positions in his 20-year career in the US Army including; First Sergeant and Station Commander, US Army Recruiting Company El Paso, TX.

Jerry’s military education included the Basic Leadership Course, the Primary Leadership Course, The Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, First Sergeants Academy, US Army Recruiter Course, Station Commanders Course, Guidance Counselors Course, Master Recruiter Trainers Course, Recruiting Operations Course Maintenance Supervisor certification course and the Automotive and Diesel Technicians Advanced Individual training course. Jerry’s civilian education includes an MBA with the University of Maryland (SOC) and a Bachelors in Business Management at Capella University. High School Diploma, Gila Bend High School.

Applied series of military career related senior leadership courses. Jerry’s military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 bronze OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (1 silver OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1 bronze OLC), NCODP Ribbon 3rd level, Overseas Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Ribbon, the Recruiters Badge w/ 3 Safire’s, the Recruiting Ring, Glen E. Morrell Award for Excellence, Army Chief of Staff Award (2), United States Army Recruiter of the Year. Mr. Martin was involved in the El Paso community over the last 18 years in the following organizations: EL Paso Association of Career Schools (EPACS), Career and Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC), Center for Career & Technology Education Scholarship Committee (CCTE), EL Paso Chamber of Commerce Education Committee member, Business Professionals of America Texas State Board of Directors (BPA) 2004-2007, Region 19 Tech Prep: Awarded Business Administrator of the Year 2009 Service Members Opportunity College (SOC) member/coordinator, GoArmyU coordinator, Army Career and Alumni Association (ACAP) member/coordinator, Army Education Specialist coordinator, Veterans (VA) certifying official / administrator, Disabled Veterans Association (DV) Texas Workforce, Texas Workforce (TWC) board member, New Mexico Student Loan College Coordinator, SEVIS certifying official, and El Paso area AMVETS member.

The life of the greatest man we know cannot be summed up into words but can only be expressed through the lives we continue to live. The Martin Legacy on earth will go on as Dad prepares our heavenly home in eternity, and for that we thank God for his grace and guidance. Services are Monday, December 31, 2018 at Bethel Family Ministries, 6301 Alabama Street, El Paso, Texas.

The viewing will be from 9-10am, followed by a Celebration of Life 10-11am, with interment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. “God, Family, Honor, Country and Duty Always!
