Jerry R. Tackett, 83 of Waxahachie, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2019 in Lancaster. He was born September 22, 1935 in Clarksville, Texas. Jerry was a retired public-school teacher and served our country in the United States Army.

He loved his church family and enjoyed visiting with people and acquaintances. He enjoyed finding creative ways to fix things and loved talking about distant relatives, Quana Parker and Elvis Presley. He enjoyed attending Parker reunions and meeting new relatives.

He enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the military, vast work experiences and sharing memories of his ex-students. He was loved by his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Tackett of 59 years; his sons, Gerald Tackett and his wife Lana, Bryan Tackett and his wife, Dianna; five grandchildren, Lynae Cochran and her husband, Aaron, Jerad Tackett and his wife, Katie, Grayson Tackett, Olivia Tackett and Matthew McCracken; six great grandchildren, Madison, Lexi, Mason, Landry, Ian and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Relis and Edna Tackett; and by his brother, Willie Tackett. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with Steve Bailey officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. For those traveling with the family to the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Wednesday, please come to Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 West Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, and be prepared to leave the funeral home no later than 9:15 a.m. We will be traveling to the national cemetery with escorts. For those meeting the family at the national cemetery, please arrive no later than 10:05 a.m., and please park at the visitor’s center until the procession has arrived.

Once the procession has pulled in and is in position in lane 2, everyone who has arrived at an earlier time, may then pull in to lane 2 and join the others.
