Obituary for Jessie Mae “Madear” Duckett Jessie Mae Duckett, affectionally known as Madear, age 96 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Regal Care of Southport, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Jessie was born March 17, 1922, the beloved daughter of the late Johnnie Mae Martin. Jessie, or otherwise fondly known as Madear, was the loving and dedicated matriarch of her family.
She had a kind heart and worked for many years with special needs children as a teacher’s aide at Skane Center Elementary School in Bridgeport. Jessie was an excellent cook and enjoyed making meals for her family. She will be remembered most for her fearlessness and her strong-willed personality.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was predeceased by: daughter & son-in-law Edward & Verneda Rose; sister, Maggie Perry; and brother, Samuel Martin. Jessie is survived by: sister, Ruthie Williams; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Rose; great-grandson, Michael Rose (Nikki); great-granddaughter Leneda Bartelle; great-great-granddchildren, Miah Sky Rose, Tajon Turner; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory. A Memorial Service to Honor Jessie’s Life will be held, Friday, December 28, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at Community Funeral Chapels 798 Park Ave.
