Jessie Mae was born on January 10, 1944 in a small log cabin in Orr Oklahoma to Bob Carson Gregg and Jessie Burt Gregg. She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Learl Stewart, Sr., on September 1, 1962 in Seminole, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1964 and have been happily married for 56 years.
They loved traveling and visited most of North America. They had many adventures and made beautiful memories with their closest friends. She loved cooking, working in her yard, and dancing.
Her family is her pride and joy, and she loved spoiling each and every one of them. She was humble and grateful, and she enjoyed her lawn equipment as much as her diamonds. She loved collecting and wearing all her different colored type Roper boots.
She had the biggest heart and was loved everywhere she went. She had worked as a store clerk at Superette, W-Bar-C Western Wear, and for 20 years at Town & Country. Jessie Mae is survived by her husband, Charles Learl Stewart, Sr. of Andrews; 1 son, Charles Learl “Chuck” Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Orange; 1 daughter, Sharon Sue Edwards and her husband, Quincy, of Andrews; 3 sisters, Katherine Wade of Hamilton and Odessa Carter and husband, Bobby, both of Hamilton, and Mary Brooks of Portland, Oregon; 7 grandchildren, Karen and John Neufeld and Carla and Danny Gollnick, both of Andrews, Chloe, Jesse, and Parker Stewart of Orange, Rebecca and Daniel House of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jeffery Kam of Dallas; 10 great grandchildren, Nathaniel Ward, Matthew, Brendon, and Allison Gollnick, Caleb and Jade Neufeld, Emma Stewart, McKenzlie, Kaylie, and Colton House; longtime friends, Sherry and Doug Gaines; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jessie Gregg, 4 brothers, Samuel “Bud” Gay, Charley Gregg, Gene Gregg, and Bobby Gregg. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Jessie Mae’s name at www. stjude.org.
