James “Jimmy” Lassiter Barnes, Jr., 64 passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2019 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Mr. Barnes was born in Wilson County on January 12, 1955 to the late James Lassiter Barnes Sr. and Katie Deans Barnes. He was owner and operator of Barnes Auto Savage in Fremont.

He enjoyed working on his old cars, fishing and was a workaholic! He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Newsome of Fremont, Crystal Stith of Fremont and Brandy Stith of Fremont; one son, B.J. Barnes of Fremont; two brothers, David Barnes and wife, Debby of Pikeville and Danny Barnes and wife, Bobbie of Pikeville and thirteen grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Amber, Cierra, Samantha, Keith, Bailee, Brooke, Amia, Michael, Khloe, Ruben and Willie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Darlene Barnes.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
