Obituary for Jimmy Earl Leverich Jimmy Earl Leverich, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, September 14, 2018. Jimmy was born February 15, 1935 in Merkel to Stephen Corvin Leverich and Marion Marie (Stanford) Leverich. After his father’s passing his mother married Gerald C. Derrick who raised Jimmy like his own son.

Jimmy started his education in Odessa and after tenth grade moved back to Merkel and graduated from Merkel High School in the 1953. He then went to Hardin Simmons University for two years. Jimmy worked at the Queen Theater, Carson’s Supermarket and Taylor Electric Co-op for 43 years until his retirement.

Jimmy loved helping the youth shown by his involvement in Boy Scouts, First United Methodist Church Youth Programs, and Merkel Little League where he volunteered as a coach, vice-president and president. Jimmy is survived by his sons Randy Leverich and wife Terri of Merkel, and Lee Leverich and wife Sherri of Hamby; and grandchildren Amanda, Justin, Landon, Corvin, Bradlee, and Sydnee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Starbuck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
