MSGT (retired) Jimmy Lee Johnson, Sr. of Fairmont, NC was born on April 17, 1934 in Coffee County to the late Isaiah and Lucrettie Johnson. He was educated in the Coffee County Schools and graduated from Carver High in Douglas, Georgia. Military: Jimmy joined the United States Army after High School and served our Country Well for many years.

He was a Parachute Jumper, served in Special Forces as a Green Beret and earned the title Master Sergeant with an Honorable Discharge upon Retirement. He was awarded and decorated with many ribbons, badges, and medals throughout his Military Career. There were many but to list a few; Master Parachute Jumper, Combat Infantry Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of gallantry w/Palms, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Two Overseas Service Ribbons.

Christianity: He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairmont, NC. He served as an Usher, Vice President of the Eureka Bible Class, Personnel Ministry, Laymen’s Ministry, Vice President of the Deacon Ministry and served on the Trustee Board. He served faithfully until health began to fail.

Community: He worked for the Robeson County School System after retiring from the Army. He was very active in his community. He was an officer with the NAACP Chapter and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

In Loving Memory: He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Jones Johnson. Seven brothers; Willie B., William Truitt, Kelly, Walter, Isaiah, Benjamin Chester and Tommy Johnson. Four Sisters; Sarah McRae, Susie Nelson, Ava Dale Watts, Lucille Harrell and Willie Mae Brinkley.

Family: He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Two daughters; Sharon (Jessie) Williams, Douglas, GA and Olivia Clark of Alamo, GA. One son Jimmy Johnson, Jr of Fayetteville, NC. Eleven Grandchildren; Jessica Williams of Douglas, GA, Jessie Williams, Jr of Valdosta, GA and Shanna (Jerel) Prater of Jacksonville, FL, Kirk Johnson, Justin Johnson and Micah Johnson all of NC, Lora and Nichole Clark both of Alamo, GA, Jerry (Janice) Clark of Warner Robins, GA, Michelle (Michael) Rush of Phildelphia, PA, Michael (Kinnery) Clark of CA; Eleven great-grands and three great-great grands.

Two sisters; Pearlie Adams of Bridgeport, CN and Helen Moss of Waycross, GA. One brother: Norman (Virginia) Johnson of Newnan, GA, a special nephew Johnny B. McRae, Avon Park, FL, a special niece, Jo Anne (Fred) Ballard of Sumter, SC, one God-daughter, Sadarryle (Kenneth) Rhone, Wake Forest, NC and many loving family members and friends.
