Obituary Joan Mary Frances Beck (nee Cummins) entered into Eternal Rest on March 24, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Joan was born on October 4th, 1937 to Kathleen Mary (LaSage) and Hugh Cummins in Detroit, Michigan.

She was the baby of the family and was raised with seven brothers and sisters. She attended Catholic Schools in Detroit and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1955. Joan met the love of her life, Thomas Beck, and they married in 1959.

After her children entered elementary school, Joan started working for the Taylor School system. First, at Racho Elementary in the lunch room and, then later, at Kennedy High School as the Truant Counselor. She cherished her work, particularly at Kennedy.

She absolutely loved working with the teens and was very fond of her coworkers. Joan retired in 1999. While she really missed the students and faculty at Kennedy, she did enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

Joan cherished her children and grandchildren as well. She leaves loving family members and friends to mourn her passing. Thomas, her loving husband; her children: Joan (Richard), Jerome, and Terri (Daniel); her grandchildren: Eric, Alessandra, Nicaela, and Breckin; her loving niece, Katherine (Walter); sisters-in-law: Rose and Donna (Arthur); so many other nieces and nephews; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and Hugh; in-laws, Adele and Thomas; brothers, Charles (Chuck), John (Jack), Orville, Hugh (Junior), and Howard; sisters, Mary and Shirlene; and nephew, Charles. Visitation Friday, March 29, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road. (313) 291-1800.
