Joan C. (Speier) Ryder, 83, passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born in Newark, NJ to the late Adam and Ann (Eisenberg) Speier. Joan worked in the accounting department for the New Jersey Turnpike for 20 years, retiring in 1998 and moved to New England.

She was a communicant of St. Peters Church and a member of their quilting group. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint in her spare time and loved to read. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harry R. Ryder of Southwick, her three loving children, Dolores A. Racz and her husband Jeffery of Worthington, Nancy C. Boersig and her husband George of Westfield and Thomas J Ryder of Flanders, NJ and her four cherished grandchildren, Katylyn Racz, Richard Racz, Timothy Boersig and Sara McGowan and her husband Michael.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2018, with a Mass at 1:30PM in St. Peter’s/St. Casmir’s Church, State St. Westfield, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Main St. Agawam. There are no calling hours. www.
