Obituary for Joan M. Geise Joan M. Geise, 88, of Delphos, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at Vancrest of Delphos. Her Family…. She was born June 5, 1929 to Henry and Agnes (Bertling) Fanger who both preceded her in death.

On July 8, 1957 she married Hubert J. Geise, who preceded her in death June 30, 1990. She is survived by a special niece, Carol Monroe of Charlotte, Michigan; nieces and nephews, Toni Quint of South Daytona, Florida, Dr. William Lauf and Gerald Geise of Lima, Roger (Linda) Geise of Chillicothe, Ohio, Jeff (Carol) Metcalfe of Delphos, Dr. Ralph (Barb) Baxter of Virginia, Mrs. William (Jane) Ferrar of Montana and James Baxter of Michigan; friends and “forever family”, Janine, Jeff, Nate, Allison, Tyler, Ben and Lindsey Warnecke; roommate, Mary Mullen and her family; and good friends, Fran Grothouse and T.C. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lenore Hillan; nephews, Tip Hillan and Leon Monroe; a niece, Janet Elchert; and a sister and brother-in-law, Cliff and Lenore Hillan.

Her Legacy…. Joan was a 1947 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and a graduate of Northwest Business College. She was employed as a private secretary and transportation manager for The National Can Retinning Company.

She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Delphos Country Club, Appleseed Ridge Girl Scouts, a first grade reading tutor at St. John’s, and a Red Cross Bloodmobile Volunteer for 30 years. Joan was a member of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs, former Allen County Contact Chairman, Regional Treasurer, Regional Membership Chairman, and Past-president of The Green Thumb Garden Club. She was also a member of St. Rita’s Auxiliary, Delphos Bridge Club, and Amity Bridge Club.

Joan was a floral designer for The House of Flowers and Touch of Nature. Joan’s body has been donated to the Ohio State University Division of Anatomy for teaching and research. Her Farewell Services.

… Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. George Mahas officiating. Following the Mass, everyone is invited to the Eagles for a luncheon.

Burial will be at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s School or to the American Red Cross.
