Joan’s Obituary Joan Ortega, 83, of Rapid City, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family . Joan was born on January 29, 1936 in Rapid City to Pedro and Mary (Tapio) Torres. On May 26, 1984, Joan married Jesse Ortega in Denver, CO.

Joan worked as an administrative Assistant for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Joan is survived by her husband, Jesse, Rapid City, her daughters; Debra Lizanna, Pass Christian, MS, Dianna Harper, Teresa Callahan and Sandra Baca, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, two brothers; Richard Torres, Donneborg, New Brunswick and Andres Torres, Rapid City. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 27 at St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church. Inurnment of her ashes will take place at a future date. Friends may sign her online guest register at www.
