Mrs. Joan Strange Dean, age 74, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday morning, March 17, 2019, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. She was the loving wife of the late Lawrence Algernon Dean. Born January 28, 1945, in Halifax County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Strange and the late Ada Rebecca Powell.

Joan was a mother to many and always seemingly had anything that others needed. Surviving are: three sons, Michael Lane Dean and his wife Denise of Summerville, William Lawrence Dean and his wife Tina of North Charleston, and Jason Edward Dean of Walterboro; seven grandchildren, Johnnie Dean, Timothy Dean, Nicholas Dean, Hannah Dean, Brandon Dean, Corey Dean, and Dylan Dean; and two dear friends, Harvey Freeman and Joseph Duncan. Funeral services will be conducted 6 o’clock Thursday evening, March 21, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.
