Obituary for Joan Von Mithoff Joan Von Mithoff, 87 passed away peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in International Falls on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Joan was born in Lockbourne, Ohio on October 1, 1930 to Melvin Von Mithoff and Jane Williams. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio forging a career in the fashion industry and later moved to New York City pioneering a career in hospital administration.

Her love for music of all kinds endured through the decades as did her creative and adventurous spirit. She had a deep affection for travel, reading, history and her beloved pets through the years. She lived life to the fullest with one of her favorite quotes being “gather ye rosebuds while ye may” (Robert Herrick).

Joan is survived by two loving daughters: Kimberly Nyborg (husband Jerry) of International Falls, MN; and Alexis Jackson of Orlando, FL. along with her grandchildren: Orion Walther (Barb); Becky Emerson (David and their four boys Zachary, Joshua, Jonathon and Isaac); and James Lindgren (and his five children, Reece, Brady, Davin, Emma, and Alvira). Joan’s wish was to have a small gathering of family and friends in celebration of her life… with lots of music and laughter.
