Joan M. (Largay) Waldron, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bangor, Maine, on April 28, 1933, daughter of the late Kenneth and Faustina (Palmer) Largay, she was a longtime Ludlow resident before moving to Springfield where she was a faithful communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church and active member of the Pine Point Senior Center. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bingo, cheering for the New England Patriots, and taking annual trips to Saratoga for the horse races. She also loved the ocean, especially Maine, and she turned eating a lobster into a science; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and being a devoted grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, never missing any of their activities. Joan was the beloved former wife of the late Carl F. Waldron, who predeceased her in 2010; a loving mother to Gary Waldron, of Springfield, Kathleen Breault and her husband Michael, of Feeding Hills, and the late Diane White; a dear sister to Richard Largay, of Bath, Maine, James Largay, of South Hadley, Patricia Forney, of West Springfield, and the late Barbara Pescetta, Kenneth Largay, and Daniel Largay; a cherished grandmother to Jeffrey White; Caitlin, Megan, and Christopher Breault, and Amy Gonzalez; great-grandmother of Skyleigh, Lilyana, Kaedin, and Bianca White; and also leaves several nieces, nephews, loving extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral services for Joan will be held on Friday, April 27th at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday evening from 4:00-6:00pm. In Joan’s memory, flowers may be sent, or donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 3810.
