Joana J. Sandoval age 68 of Saginaw, Michigan passes away March 12, 2019 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. The daughter of the late John and Elena Sandoval Sr., Joana was born August 6, 1950 in Saginaw and was graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Joana lived in Dalton, Georgia from 1990 to 2005 where she was a volunteer worker and Hispanic community advocate.

She established and was co-owner of Maria Elena Bakery in Carrollton for several years. Joana was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed cake decorating. She was married to Dionicio Duarte on November 24, 1999 in Los Angeles, CA.

Surviving are her husband, Dionicio; 3 children, Elena Sandoval Allen (Jim) of Holland, Ohio, Michelle Dosal Chacon of Dalton, GA, and Manuel (Amy) Dosal Jr. of Saginaw; 10 grandchildren, Cristina, Michael, Melissa, Mingo, Manuel III, Alex, Gabby, Stefy, Dallas and Ulises; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Renee Dosal and a brother, Thomas Sandoval. Funeral service will take place 5: p.m. Friday at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N., Michigan Ave.

in Saginaw. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the family, C/O 403 N. Michigan Ave.
