Joseph B. “Joe” Thomason, Jr., 72, of Abbeville, husband of the late Clydie Maffett Wideman, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home. He was born in Abbeville to the late Joseph B. Thomason, Sr. and Georgia McDowell Thomason. Mr. Thomason, a 1964 graduate of Abbeville High School, retired from Food Lion Grocery, Inc. with over 20 years of service.

He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Jay Thomason, Jr. and a brother, James Michael Thomason. Mr. Thomason is survived by his family, Joseph B. “Jody” Thomason, III (Carlie) or Peoria, AZ, Cliff Wideman of Greenville and Kim Banks (Ronnie) of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Kaylan Manley, Taylor Manley, Larkin Thomason and Sam Thomason; one great-grandson, Jaxon Manley; and his two beloved pets, Prince and Baby Girl.

The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:00PM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Cook officiating.

Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Thomason, may be sent to the charity of one’s choice. A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.
