OBITUARY Joe Russell Calvert September 11, 1943 – September 10, 2018 Joe Russell Calvert (74) husband, father, mentor, friend and follower of Jesus, was called home by the Lord on Monday, September 10, 2018. Joe was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, graduate of the University of Houston, successful business man, President of Rabon-Calvert Interests, a member of many philanthropic and corporate boards, and a Deacon at Houston’s First Baptist Church.

Joe was a member of The Salt Grass Trail, and The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Quarter horse Committee. Throughout his life he received many awards and honors, but his favorite was his “Top Trail Rider of the Salt Grass Ride Association 2015”. Our “Dad”,“Daddy”, “Grandaddy” and “Darling”, was extremely loved, is terribly missed and will always be cherished.

Joe loved Jesus, his family, serving others and being outdoors. You could find him on his motorcycle enjoying God’s creation regularly or on the back of a horse. Joe was a man of strong character, integrity and irresistible charm.

Joe reached out to everyone, no one was a stranger to him. He loved his children and grandchildren without reserve and showed them by example what it means to lead a family. His most treasured role was as husband to Lisa.

They were married for 35 years. Joe loved Lisa so well. His face lit up with pride every time he saw her.

They were partners in every way and their marriage has been an example to so many. The joy they found in each other was a testament to God’s faithfulness and goodness. He is proceeded in death by his parents James Franklin and Susie Reba Calvert; the mother of Stefanie and Russell, Patricia Ann Cain Calvert, and 7 brothers and sisters.

Loved ones that will miss him until they meet again are his beloved wife Lisa, his daughter Stefanie, her husband Jay and their children Noah and Grace. His son Russell, his wife Elaine and their daughter Ryann. His mother and father-in-law Marinell and Jack Grimes.

His brother-in-law Glenn Grimes and his wife Lennie and their children Lauren and John, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
