Born in Utica on September 3, 1927, John was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (DeFuria) LaPolla. A veteran of World War II, John honorably served his country in the United States Army.

On September 2, 1950 he wed the former Evelyn Fierro with whom he shared 55 years in a traditional marriage graced with mutual devotion and love. Evelyn passed away on Christmas Day in 2005. John’s career was centered in the construction industry where he worked as a laborer on projects in the Utica area.

Subsequently he also held positions with the New York State Railroad and at Griffis Air Force Base.
