John A. Sornson, 80, passed away at home on Sunday, May 5, 2019. John was born on July 30, 1938 in Dyess, AR, to William W. and Mabel L. (Gowans) Sornson. Surviving are his beloved children, Michael Sornson of OR, David Mark Sornson of FL, Montie Moses of TX, and Rita Schroeder of La Porte; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Loreda F. Price of La Porte; many nieces and nephews; as well as special Home Health Aide, Kendra Brockenshire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers,William (J. L.) Sornson and Granville Sornson; and sister, Emogene Fitzgerald. John was retired from Joy Manufacturing.

In his able years, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, not to mention the many hog roasts he held for his family, friends, and community. John was a great handyman. He loved to take things apart, fix, and reassemble them.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Center for Hospice Care, 286 W. Johnson Road, Suite B, La Porte, IN 46350.
