Mr. John Anthony Colpo, Sr. of Millsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was 76 years old. Mr. Colpo was born on June 16, 1942 to the late Jesse and Viola Hassen Colpo in Williamsport, PA.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sheila (Healy) Colpo and two brothers Patrick and Tom Colpo. John was an Air Force Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for General Foods and Rider Logistics.

He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle and Mary Mother of Peace. John loved golfing, bowling, animals, westerns, John Wayne, Dean Martin and enjoyed the Lewes Beach area. In his earlier years he was active in the Knights of Columbus.

John was devoted to his faith, and never knew a stranger. He is survived by three children, Mary Ellen Hearn and her husband Bob of Lewes, DE and John Anthony Colpo, Jr. and his wife Kara of Lewes, DE and Patricia Anderson of Georgetown, DE. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Ellen Eisenreed of Pittsburg, PA, Colleen Lampertz and her husband Rick of Leesburg, FL and Jacinta White and her husband Cole of Fripp Island, SC, as well as three brothers, Dean Colpo and his wife Maria of Clayton, DE; Gregory Colpo and his partner Frank of Atlanta, GA, and Mark Colpo and his wife Patty of Chincoteague, VA.

John also leaves behind ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit with the family 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Entombment with military honors will be private at Henlopen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in John’s memory to Sisters of Charity, 601 N. West St., Wilmington, DE 19801, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950 or Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
