John passed away on April 25th, 2018, after a battle with brain cancer. He was born December 31st, 1936, in Seattle, WA, the son of Alfred and Claribel Lewis. John graduated from Vashon High School, and began working for the Boeing Company at the age of 17.

He continued at Boeing for over 40 years until his retirement as a quality control supervisor. While at Boeing, he participated as Jon Jon in the Boeing “Klown Klub” and spent three years working at a Boeing subsidiary in Australia. He also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

John is survived by Arlene, his wife of 36 years, children Kim, Jeff, and Susan, step-children Tracy, Mark, and Todd, brothers Bob and David Lewis, and sister Mary Espinoza. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Sally Cano, Betty Lewis, Linda Stenek, and Carol Hunt. John was proud and supportive of his nine grandchildren and much loved by his many nieces and nephews.

He was an avid golfer, a skilled woodworker, a meticulous gardener, and a fervent Seahawks fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors – camping, hiking, hunting and fishing. The family appreciates the care and support provided by Valley Medical Center and Providence-Marianwood Rehabilitation Center.

A brief graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th, at the Vashon Cemetery (19631 Singer Road SW, Vashon Island). In addition, the family invites all to gather for an informal celebration of John’s life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on May 5th in the Spruce Room of the Red Lion Inn, 1 South Grady Way in Renton.
