John Brooke Andreae of Lapeer, formerly of Harbor Springs and Birmingham, died Monday, March 4, 2019. John was born on April 27, 1946 in Detroit to Wayne and Jeanne (Joy) Andreae. He graduated from Birmingham Seaholm High School, class of 1964.

He was a talented carpenter/craftsman and a partner in JB Squared Builders. John lived a passionate life that included his love of fly fishing, hot air-ballooning, and sailing. He sailed his America’s Cup 12 meter boat, Northern Light, in many Port Huron to Mackinac Races.

He was an incredible story teller and a delight to be with. Above all, John was committed to helping others. John is survived by his brothers: Phillip (Donna) Andreae of Metamora, Wayne (Dede) Andreae of West Bloomfield and Steve (Meg) Andreae of Charlevoix; John’s beloved companion, Lauren Banker of Commerce Township; extended family: Jane (Matt) Bugera of Harbor Springs and Deanna (Frank) Laboy of Concord, CA; grandchildren: Max, Brooke, Charlie and Kenny.

John was also survived by six nieces and four nephews who loved their Uncle John. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity – Lapeer/Tuscola, 1633 North Lapeer Road, Lapeer, Michigan 48446. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
