John Charles Bosser January 22, 1959 – December 16, 2018 John Charles Bosser, 59, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 22, 1959 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the son of Nick and Loretta Klinger Bosser. He was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and California University of Pennsylvania.

After college he was a sports writer and reporter for the Uniontown Herald-Standard newspaper. John was also a former employee of Mike Flick Advertising, BankOne, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Bates Advertising and most recently Fairfield County Developmental Disabilities as the community outreach coordinator. John is a current member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster.

He was a former member of the Lancaster Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. He was also a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Garden Writers Association of America. John was a recent inductee into the Fayette County (PA) Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1974 W.P.I.A.L. Championship Football Team.

John was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. His father Nick, mother Loretta, sister Carolyn Miller, brother-in-law James Miller and cousin Joel Ponterero preceded John in death. John is survived by his wife of 24 years Pamela (Haley) and their children Nicholas, Jackson and Emma.

John and Pam met through their volunteer work with the Lancaster Scouts Frontier League professional baseball team. Their mutual love of sport is what attracted them to one another and remained a of enjoyment throughout their marriage. John enjoyed referring to himself as the “athletic director’s wife”.

John is also survived by his two nieces, LuAnne (Miller) Stone and Jamie (Miller) Snyder who were like sisters to him and cousins Dwain Lee, Harry Lee and Chris Lee who were like brothers to him; father and mother-in-law, Chuck and Born: January 22, 1959 Death: December 16, 2018 Judy Haley, brothers-in-law Scott Haley (Linda), Clark Haley (Michelle) and sisters-in-law Paula Morrow (Tim) and Patricia Zaker (Chris). Visitation will be at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST. , LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 on Thursday, December 20th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 21st at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster with interment following at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Although John was not a graduate of Lancaster High School, he was a Golden Gale and he enjoyed attending most home athletic events. In lieu of flowers, John has asked that contributions be made to the Lancaster Athletic Department Press Box Fund – 1312 Granville Pike, Lancaster Ohio, 43130.
