John David Kelly passed away on December 18, 2018. He was born May 5, 1925, the eldest son of McKinley “Buck” Kelly and Laura (Butler), in Eldorado. Illinois.

He married Mildred (Adams) on June 10, 1944 and they celebrated their 73rd year together before she passed last November. They raised two daughters, Sandra Koster and Diane “Kelly” Padden. John retired as Vice President of Budgets and Planning for Peabody Coal Company at 63.

He devoted the next 30 years to the things he loved–golf, traveling, card playing, gardening but especially his family. John and Milly made their home in St Louis, Missouri until 2015 when they relocated to Crete to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his sister Maxine Reeder.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his brother Michael Kelly, his daughters and six grandchildren: Matthew Padden (Stacy), Kelly Hansen (Nick), Michael Padden (Courtney), Kristy Koster, Kevin Koster, Molly Claiborne (Emily), and one great grandchild Mika Hansen. Visitation will be at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, Illinois on Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm with funeral service on Saturday at 9 am.
