Obituary for John E. Keenan John E. Keenan, age 94, of Brick, passed away peacefully Saturday October 20, 2018 with his family by his side. John was a fireman for the City of Elizabeth, and later a self employed electrician. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seaman 1st Class during WWII on the USS Calcaterra (DE-390).

He was a member of the VFW Elizabeth Chapter, DESA Garden State Chapter, Coast Guard Combat Association, Retired Police and Fireman’s Association of Union and Ocean Counties, and a member of the Silver Ridge Park West Men’s Golf and Bowling Leagues. John is predeceased by his wife Rita Dimperio Keenan, a son John Jr., and sister Betty Grogan. Surviving are his daughter Barbara Kasten and husband Richard Kasten of Brick, 2 grandchildren, Kimberly and Carly.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, October 25, 2018, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and Friday, October 26, 2018, 10:00AM to 11:00 AM with a religious service at 11:00 AM at Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals 412 Main St. Toms River, NJ 08753. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River.
