OBITUARY John E. Owings October 18, 1929 – January 20, 2019 89 retired Textron industrial engineering manager, passed away on January 20, 2019. Korean War Navy Veteran was a member of a Masonic Lodge, American Legion and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and Boy Scout Leader.

He is preceded by wife, Ila “Jeannie” Owings; parents, Elmer and Emma Owings; brothers, Roger and Gerald Owings and grandson, Daniel Buckner. John is survived by sons, David (Gina) Owings, Mark (Danni) Owings; daughters, Lori Below, Paula (Jack) Knight and Karen (Farris) Jibril; grandchildren, Cameron (Kristan) Owings, Tanner Owings, MJ Owings, Josh Owings, Joshua (Joy) Buckner, Rob Below, Allison Below, Amelia Below, Carissa Massago, Krystal (Mark) Steiner, Sammir Jibril, Summer Jibril; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Graveside service is Friday, January 25, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary.

A memorial has been established with Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, 8900 State Line Rd. #320, Leawood, KS 66206. Owings, Grandchild Josh Owings, Grandchild Joshua (Joy) Buckner, Grandchild Rob Below, Grandchild Allison Below, Grandchild Amelia Below, Grandchild Carissa Massago, Grandchild Krystal (Mark) Steiner, Grandchild Sammir Jibril, Grandchild Summer Jibril, Grandchild John also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild to cherish his memory.
