Funeral services for Edward Sims, age 82 of Clarkesville, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 24, 2018, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Tony Kemp and Rev.

Richard Pletsch will officiate with interment to follow the service in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Sims passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018. Born on July 15, 1936 in White County, Georgia, Mr. Sims was the son of the late John Ernest and Roxie Fain Sims.

Mr. Sims was a self employed truck driver in the lumber industry and he was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Jean Freeman Sims, son Michael Daniel Sims, sisters Pauline Black and Ruby Allen and brothers Clarence, Earl, Harold, Burn and Eugene Sims. He is survived by his wife Doris Benfield Sims of Clarkesville, daughters Patti Saxon of Clarkesville and Vicki Wade (Curtis) of Clarkesville, sons Benny Sims (Deavie) of Gainesville and Doug Sims (Kim) of Jefferson, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4000 Hollywood Highway, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
