John’s Obituary Johnnie Lee Gullett, 71, resident of Claremore, Oklahoma transitioned peacefully Friday, January 18th at Clarehouse, Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by the family who adored him. Born March 10, 1947 to John and Louise (Smith) Gullett, Johnnie grew up in Vinita, Oklahoma where he loved to fish, hunt, and play basketball. In January 1968 he married Judy Ann Harrell of Chelsea and settled in Pittsburg, Kansas where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Kansas State College at Pittsburg.

In September 1968, John and Judy were joined by their son, Jarrod, In Tulsa, and settled into a vibrant life in Oklahoma City filled with art, music, friends, and family. In 1974, the family moved to Claremore where John worked at Hesston and later at Baker Hughes for nearly 30 years. All the while, he painted, debated the great masters, spent time cooking, enjoying life, listening to music with friends and family, and dedicating his life completely to his wife and son.

He loved a good meal, red wine, Rembrandt, Jim Beam, and James Brown. Everything he touched was made better through his attention and he brought much beauty, artistry, and craftsmanship to this world. He will be remembered for being a consummate gentleman, always aware of the comfort, pleasure, and safety of those around him.

A lover of life and love, beauty and nature, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his siblings, Jerry Ray Gullett, Judy Johnson, and Janie York, sister-in-law Marty Gullett, brother-in-law Fred York, and his son and most ardent fan, Jarrod Gullett, and son-in-law, Warren B. Dunn, of Houston, Texas. A private memorial party to celebrate the life, love, and passions of Johnnie Lee is forthcoming.
