John (Jack) Henry Longhini of Ontonagon passed away peacefully November 14, 2018 at home while preparing for deer camp. Jack was born in Ironwood to Dominic and Catherine (Viher) Longhini on November 19, 1933. He graduated from Luther L Wright High school in Ironwood with the class of 1951.

After spending 3 years on Great Lakes ore carriers, he was drafted into the Navy being discharged in 1958. He married his wife, Greta (Hokans), of nearly 60 years in 1959. He worked in road construction for Joseph D Bonness, Inc. in Wauwatosa, WI before moving to Ontonagon in 1976.

While in Ontonagon, he worked at the paper mill. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Sport Fishermen’s Club. John is survived by his wife, Greta, sons, Guy (Andrea) and Ross (Vicki) and daughters, Jaclyn (Andrew) and Liza (Mark), nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Anthony, sister, Shirley and daughter, Liana. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, November 19 at Holy Family Church in Ontonagon with a gathering beforehand at 10:00am. Burial will be in the spring at Holy Family Cemetery.
