John Irwin Hessler, Jr. 66, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away Dec. 30, 2018.

He was born in Tyrone, PA March 27,1952 to John and Dorothy Hessler. The family relocated to Ft. Myers in 1955.

John is survived by his son, Shane and former wife Penny Yingling Hessler of Ft. Myers, and sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth (Betsy) and Peter Freed of Springfield, OH. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Carolyn Sue Smith.

He graduated from Ft. Myers High School in 1970 and attended Edison State College. He owned and operated TJ’s Sporting Goods.

John had a lifelong love of baseball, playing from age 6 through various adult leagues. He coached Little League for many years with Chuck Ross, taking a team to the state championship playoffs in 1978. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Always ready to crack a joke and make you laugh. A private family service will be held at a later date.
