John I. Wick, 88, of Murrysville, born October 25, 1930 in New Castle, Pa. , died on October 31, 2018. Husband of Ruth (Cumberland) Wick.

John was a long-time employee of the University of Pittsburgh Chemistry department. During the Korean conflict, John served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and then later at the Air Force research center in Cambridge, Mass. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, NASCAR, and traveling extensively.

John was a member of the Holiday Park United Methodist Church in Plum and was a certified lay speaker. He was an ardent believer in donating blood, having donated over 10 gallons in his lifetime. He also did volunteer work with various local agencies.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Elizabeth Wick; his daughter, Kimberly Anne and his youngest sister, Jeri Miller. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Jane Anne (the late Richard) Betts of Youngstown, Ohio; two sons, David Lee (Karen) Wick and Timothy Andrew Wick; 6 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation Sunday, Nov 4, 2018 from 2- 4p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David S. Coul officiating.

Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in John’s name. www.
