Big Stone Gap, VA John J. Berchinsky 94, passed away peacefully on Friday (May 17th, 2019) at his home. He was born in McAdoo PA, the son of the late Anna Berchinsky. He lived in West Virginia for 8 years, before settling in Big Stone Gap in 1957.

He retired from Westmoreland Coal Company with 26 years of service. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. district #28 local #8181, He was a past member of the Big Stone Gap Lions Club, he was also a member of the Local John Fox Jr. # 5715 V.F.W.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator in Road construction in Nashville TN. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Betty Berchinsky, and close friend Don Clark.

Close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday (May 20th) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until noon for the visitation. The Catholic funeral mass will be conducted following the visitation in Sacred Hearts Chapel with Father Eric Baffour-Assamoah officiating.
