John James Minkler February 10, 1956 – December 22, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card John James Minkler, 62, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, December 22, 2018 at his home. Born February 10, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of John Horrace and Darla Faye (Koehn) Minkler. He was raised and received his education in Virginia, Chanute, and finally Winfield where he graduated from Winfield High School in 1974.

Following high school, John worked in construction in the Kansas City area for a short time. He worked for Morton Buildings and in the Oil fields. In 1985, he began his career with Boeing as a Sheet Metal Mechanic and later became an Inspector for Spirit AeroSystems, retiring in 2014.

John married Trudy Miller in May 1981 in Winfield. To this union, a daughter, Holly, was born. The couple later divorced.

He was united in marriage to Cindy Black in July 1991 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple had a son, Chaz, and made their home in Winfield. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a Boston Red Sox, University of Oklahoma football, and Kansas University basketball fan.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His family includes his wife Cindy Minkler of Winfield; his daughter Holly McWilliams of Winfield; his son Chaz Minkler of Winfield; and his granddaughter Reese McWilliams of Winfield. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Minkler and sister Jeanette Minkler.

Memorial services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. A memorial has been established in John’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society.
