Obituary for John Kemak John Kemak, a resident of Cambria for 47 years, passed away peacefully at his home on October 24, 2018. John was born in the Bronx, New York on February 24,1924; he was the son of Anna and Charles Kemak, immigrants from the Ukraine. Always a hard worker, John shined shoes, delivered Western Union telegrams and worked in Macy’s NYC as a boy.

He enlisted in WW11 and was stationed in Florida where he met Louise his wife, who predeceased him last year, after 72 years of marriage. After the war he used the GI bill to attend the University of Alabama. He was the first in his family to earn a college degree.

After a successful career at Bechtel, as a Project Manager, they settled in Cambria in 1971 with their 3 children. They owned and operated the Sea Shore Motel on Moonstone Beach Drive. In 1978 he built a home on Happy Hill where they lived until his passing.

John was active in the Cambria Lions Club and always looked forward the annual Pinedorado hotdog stand. He was a Life Member to the International Flying Samaritans Board of Directors and the Gold Coast Chapter Treasurer. He enjoyed his trips to Mexico with the doctors and nurses to help children.

He loved photography, rock collecting, lawn bowling, traveling in his RV, hiking with his dogs and crossword puzzles. John is survived by his sons; John and Michael Kemak of Cambria; and daughter, Anya deLancellotti and husband David deLancellotti of Santa Ana; grandchildren Megan Straub, Luca deLancellotti, Paolo deLancellotti, Natasha Kemak and Justin Kemak. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday,November 24 at the Old Santa Rosa Cemetery, 2353 Main Street, Cambria.
