John L. Christian July 07, 1940 – May 13, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card John Lloyd Christian, 78 years of age, went home on Monday, May 13th, 2019 at 3:45 p.m. in the comfort of his home on the farm he grew up in northern Benton County. Preceded in his death is John William Christian (father), Mabel (Summers) Christian (mother), Sam Christian (brother), Harold Christian (brother), and Etta May Vaughan (sister). John spent his childhood working on the family farm, dedicating all he had to helping where he could.

He went to Lincoln High School where he played basketball for the Lincoln Cardinals. Shortly after high school, he selflessly joined the United States Navy, serving between 1958-1960. John spent many years as a sub contractor to electric company’s, trimming trees around power lines.

He met his wife Judy Kay Phillips in Christian County and they always joked about the irony of being a Christian with a Christian last name and living in Christian County. It was simply meant to be! They were married for 27 years until Judy past away in January of 1987.

From this marriage there are 2 surviving children; Theresa Marie Collins and husband Raymond Mitts, and Terry Lee Christian and wife Pam Christian. Other surviving family members are: grandchildren and great grandchildren from both marriages, Mable Christian (sister in law), many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. During his tree trimming days, he met his second wife, Nancy Christian in Denver, Colorado.

They were married on October 20, 1989. Through this union, he gained 4 more children; Kelly, Damon, Chris, and Sarah. John spent many years in Colorado continuing his career with tree trimming.

John retired in 1992. He had many friends and family in Colorado. John was a fishing enthusiast and also enjoyed watching storms.

He always had a joke to tell or play on someone. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved watching football and rooting for the opposing team, just to get a good rise out of his loved ones.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to David-Miller Funeral Home, 119 W. Main, Lincoln, Missouri 65338.
