John L. “Hersh” Hershey Jr., 62, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle. He was born April 1, 1956 in Carlisle to Sonia (Monismith) Hershey and the late John L. Hershey Sr. Hersh was employed by the former C.H. Masland and Son for over thirty years and was later a bartender in most of Carlisle’s social clubs, namely the White Circle Club. John enjoyed playing and coaching mens fast pitch softball, throwing darts, bowling and camping. Hersh was passionate about his favorite sports teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and the LA Rams. John is survived by one daughter, Jennifer L. (husband Michael) Taylor; one son, Michael A. (wife Amanda) Hershey both of Carlisle; four sisters, Vicki (husband Frank) Shollenberger of Mechanicsburg, Kimberly (husband Marlin) Rudy of Carlisle, Jackie (husband Chris) Fielding of Frederick, MD and Lucy (husband Butch) Hayes of Shippensburg; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Sharon R. (Mixell) Hershey and one brother, Steven Hershey. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory with Chaplain Ed Rabenstein officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hersh to Boiling Springs Wrestling, 21 Academy Street Boiling Springs, PA 17007 or Carlisle Area Little League, P.O.
