Obituary for John Lacy Wyatt Print John Lacy Wyatt, 76, passed away peacefully at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Born August 10, 1942 in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Jewel Wyatt and the late Jessie Belle Willis Wyatt. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and retired from teaching and coaching after many years.

John Lacy graduated from Vardaman High School, and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Mississippi, and then his Master’s Degree in Education from Mississippi State University. John Lacy was an avid fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and loved anything and everything to do with Miss. State sports, but, according to his family, he “tolerated” Ole Miss also.

For over 20 years, he taught Physical Education at Calhoun City, as well as coached football and baseball for his beloved Wildcats, retiring in 1986. Shortly after, Calhoun City Schools honored John’s legacy by naming the baseball field after him. In 2017, Calhoun City added to that legacy by presenting John with the “Lifetime Wildcat” award.

John never let physical challenges detour him from achieving his life goals. His hard work, dedication, and perseverance will serve as inspiration to many of us for years to come. He is now reunited in Heaven with his mom and dad, but the memories he left behind will never be forgotten.

Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Wyatt family. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Sunday from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, Vance Burke, Barry Black, Keith Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Donnie Smith, and W.D. Newlin. He leaves behind his many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Jessie Belle Wyatt.
