John’s Obituary John Lee Shipley, 79, Suamico, passed away, Saturday, May 25, 2019. John was born on November 21, 1939, in Green Bay to Eugene and Nathalie (Nelson) Shipley. John graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1957 and then went on to attend at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

John loved to work on machines. He had a natural talent of fixing anything. Early on in his life, he had a love of cars.

He worked on stock cars and would race them every weekend. He naturally began his career as a machinist. He later worked his way to become a supervisor of Machine Adjustors at Fort Howard Paper Mill.

For many years, John enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling at his cottage on Lake Archibald. John especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards, camping, bowling and hunting. On January 21, 1961 he married Marilyn Wegner who preceded him in death on December 30, 2008.

Together they raised three wonderful children and enjoyed traveling and camping. They would frequently travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama and Yuma, Arizona. For the last 7 years of John’s life, he spent it with his special friend, Jan Dill.

He and Jan liked to travel and go to local restaurants. John is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Jennifer), Mark, Janette (Jolene); two special grandchildren, Jackson and Jilian; siblings, Jim Shipley, Dianne Berendsen, Karen (Gary) Gutzman, Kay (Chap) Spejcher, Jean (John) Halvorsen, Laurie Shipley-Calewarts, Tim (RuthAnn) Shipley, Kerry (Dolores) Shipley, Lisa (Mike) Babiash; a sister-in-law Marleen Rodaer; a special friend, Jan Dill and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his close-nit camping friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; his mother and father; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; a brother-in-law Richard Rodaer.

Friends may call at SS. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Rd. , Flintville, from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. David Hoffman officiating.
