Obituary for John Milton Hampton Sr. John Milton Hampton, Sr., age 96, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 o’clock am, Friday, October 5th, 2018, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Gene Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with Damon Brown, Deron Brown, Chris Hampton, Joey Hampton, Michael Hampton, and Jonathan Hampton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Claude, Carl Chambliss, Ken Lewis, Dr. John Bright Cage, Dr. Whitson Lowe, Dr. Fred Nordquist, great-grandsons and step-grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00PM Thursday, October 4, 2018, and again on Friday beginning at 10:00AM until the hour of service at 11.
Mr. Hampton was born on May 4, 1922 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to the late Milton and Nellie Reasoner Hampton. He was a retired iron worker and talented cabinet maker. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force and served during WWII.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Hampton; four brothers; two sisters; a step-daughter and step grandson; and daughter-in-law, Lindy Hampton. Survivors include his wife, Marietta Hampton; sons, John (Pam) Hampton, Jr., Darrell (Kim) Hampton, and Eddie (Carol) Hampton; daughter, Jeanie (Gene) Brown; step children, Joe (Jean) Vick, Van (Candye) Vick, Max (Judy) Vick, Patty (Robert) Rollins, and Ben (Stacey) Brinkley; sister, Carrie Wise; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
