John Patrick “Jay” Canaan July 20, 1944 – December 21, 2018 Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Jay Canaan Gaffney, SC – – John Patrick “Jay” Canaan, 74, formerly of 610 S. Johnson Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Magnolias of Gaffney. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the husband of Kay Canaan and son of the late Richard N. Canaan and Doris Jean Kirk Canaan. He retired as a manager from Wendy’s, retired from Miracle Hill Ministries and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.

He was a U. S. Navy Vietnam veteran, loved motorcycling and running. He was an avid Michigan fan, but an even bigger fan of his grandson, Eli. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Meg Allen and husband, Kurt of Green Creek, NC and Katie Jerozal and husband, David, of Taylors; five grandchildren, Savannah Boothe, Willa Boothe, Trilby Allen, Eli Jerozal and Elise Jerozal; and his beloved dog, “Piper”.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Hussey. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 in the First Baptist Church Chapel. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Rev.

Mark Hazel and Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice Compassus, 212 E. Floyd Baker Boulevard, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at their respective homes.
